Federal Court Blocks “Remain in Mexico” Policy


In August 2021, a federal court blocked the implementation of the “Remain in Mexico” policy, which required asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases were processed in the United States. The court found that the policy was implemented without sufficient public notice and comment, and that it violated U.S. immigration law.
