Asylum Seekers Face Significant Backlog and Delays

As of September 2021, there was a significant backlog of asylum cases in the United States, with over 1.3 million cases pending. Asylum seekers may face long wait times and significant delays in their cases, due in part to staffing shortages and other challenges faced by the U.S. immigration system.
